Buckingham Palace have today officially announced that I have been appointed as Master of the Queen’s Music in succession to Sir Peter Maxwell Davies. You can read their official press release here.
Today I’ll be visiting Buckingham Palace for an audience with the Queen, and then attending a reception in honour of Max as he ‘retires’ from his royal position. Later in the day I’ll be interviewed on BBC World Service’s Newshour on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune and on BBC Radio 4’s Front Row.
To all the people who have sent kind messages since the possibility of my appointment was first discussed in the press earlier this month, I can now say an official and heartfelt thank you! I will let you know from time to time, via this blog, how I’m getting on in my unusual new role.
