UPDATE I reported in early May on the latest stage of this innovative composition award, taking place in hospitable St Catherine's College Oxford (pictured) and organised to the highest standards by them. After a painstaking, but not painful, couple of days in June, we reached the final concert, after which I and the Trio Atem awarded the 2021 Henfrey Prize to Jonty Lefroy Watt. To quote myself, “Jonty Lefroy Watt’s piece is endlessly inventive, constantly producing new musical surprises, but bringing the listeners along with its seamless, continuous progress. It’s most satisfying that this work uses as its text ’Self Portrait with Rain’ by an acclaimed Oxford student poet, Annie Fan.
