PLANET in Germany

My chamber orchestra piece PLANET, an Aldeburgh Festival commission from 2024, is having its German premiere this week. I'll be going to Bielefeld to hear a performance by the Bielefelder Philharmoniker under their general music director, (British born) Robin Davis.

This isn't my first time, or even first premiere in Bielefeld. I vividly remember my last visit, I think exactly thirty years ago, to hear Der Blonde Eckbert (in Germany, and in German, for the first time) in their fine art nouveau Stadttheater. In fact there'll be a production of Peter Grimes opening in that theatre this week. Despite everything, there's still an amount of British music, and musicians, making their way around Germany.
