The London Festival of Contemporary Church Music opens tonight, and somehow this event always surprises me by its yearly appearance, and by the huge number of London choral events featuring new music it covers. Scroll down the front page of LFFCM.COM to see the extremely numerous list of contemporary composers whose work will be performed over the next ten days in choral services in London churches. It's an indication of the diversity and constant invention in this genre of music; which might come as a surprise to some new music fans.
I will be appearing, along with Gabriel Jackson, John Rutter and Andrew Carwood, in a discussion, part of a whole day's examination of this musical area, titled A New Song (3pm, Wednesday13 May in Holy Sepulchre EC1).
PICTURED - Notre-Dame Cathedral, Paris as you almost never see it; empty of people. Thanks to Kate Johnson for this beautiful image taken during rehearsals for my Mass for Notre-Dame last month.
